Solo Video Journalism
27, June 2009
Our next condensed solo video journalism course will run for 5 days from 15th -19th June 2009
The course contains two main elements:
-Camera craft and shooting sequences for the edit - combines theory and practical daily shooting exercises with regular feedback and critique
-Editing with Final Cut Pro - taking the rushes generated while shooting participants learn how to create final rough cuts
With increasing demands on journalists to be multi-skilled and be able to shoot video themselves, these courses gives instruction on working as an independent, solo broadcaster. This course have been developed in response to the increasing demands on journalists to become multi-skilled and embrace the rise of video journalism. It is taught using a mixture of theory, hands-on practical training and constructive feedback suitable for budding short documentary makers and journalists wanting to widen their skills base
A previous participant who has just taken the course in May says:
"This was a hugely enjoyable learning experience. The teachers were very knowledgeable and taught using examples from the real world, such as filming a documentary on Robbie Williams, being in Iraq with John Simpson or editing a commercial for Toyota. I think it provided a great base line understanding of the principles involved that will enable me to improve the A/V output for Wardour in the future." - Phil Pemberton, Managing Editor, Wardour
